El Hospital construido por la secretaría de Salud Pública, en sus inicios contaba con una capacidad de treinta (30) camas, consta de áreas de laboratorio clínico equipado y climatizado, farmacia interna, módulo odontológico, cinco consultorios, estadísticas y archivo, oficinas del director, salón de conferencias, administración y secretaría, ropero y epidemiología, entre otras áreas. El centro de salud cuenta igualmente con salas de emergencia, recuperación, tratamiento y curas, con baño integrado, rayos x, enyesado, cirugía, sala de parto, comedor, lavandería, patio interior, amplios parqueos, ambulancias.
La obra, beneficia a más de 80 mil personas residentes en 13 barrios de esta zona del Distrito Nacional, se estima que unas quince mil (15) personas de estos sectores colindantes a Los Girasoles se benefician de la Seguridad Social en el centro hospitalario.
El Hospital “Dr. Jacinto Ignacio Mañón” es un centro clasificado como Hospital General el cual era conocido en sus principios como el Hospital “De los Girasoles”, ubicado en la avenida República de Colombia esquina Av. Monumental, en el sector “Los Peralejos” del Distrito Nacional; fue inaugurado en abril del 2008, sin embargo, el 16 de febrero del 2009, a través de la Resolución 0002, el Exministro de Salud Doctor Bautista Rojas Gómez nombra a este centro como Hospital “Dr. Jacinto Ignacio Mañón” en honor al prominente médico dominicano, que, en su época, supo dedicarse a la beneficencia pública, ampliamente reconocido por su labor por el bien común y méritos internacionales, durante su larga vida de servicio el Dr. Mañón hizo importantes aportes al pueblo dominicano. Entre los puestos desempeñados por este galeno, se destacan la subdirección del hospital “Padre Billini”, delegado dominicano en varios congresos municipales sobre higiene mental, por varias ocasiones fue médico de sanidad en diferentes instancias del país, también se desempeñó como vicepresidente del Ayuntamiento de Santo Domingo y cónsul general honorario en la República de Honduras, desde 1930 hasta su muerte en 1952. Una calle, del sector Ensanche Paraíso, en el Distrito Nacional lleva su nombre.
